Harold C. Smith, Ph.D. is a cell and molecular biologist and full professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry. He is a member of the Center for AIDS Research and RNA Biology Center. He obtained his MS and Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1980 and 1982. He conducted postdoctoral fellowships with Drs. Harris Busch and Susan Berget in RNA biology at Baylor College of Medicine before assuming a faculty position with the University of Rochester in 1986. He is a key opinion leader in RNA biology and directs a federally and foundation funded research laboratory from which over 138 pier reviewed publications have emerged on biological control mechanisms affecting diseases such as cancer, elevated cholesterol, obesity-induced Type II diabetes and HIV/AIDS.
In 2003, Dr. Smith founded OyaGen, Inc, an Upstate NY biotech company based on ground breaking research that revealed mechanisms within our innate ability overcome an infection by HIV-1 and also a first in class treatment of Ebola.
In 2016 Dr. Smith founded Cannametrix, LLC for the development of methods to enhance cannabis testing with standards that better inform patients and physicians.

Gandelman began his career as a high school teacher where he immediately noticed a huge issue: the lack of fresh, nutritious food for his students. Dedicated to fixing the problem, he founded Main Street Farms in 2010, an organic vegetable farm in Cortland, NY and began providing local food to school districts in Central New York. in 2017 Gandelman co-founded New York Hemp Oil, a CBD processing company and Head & Heal, they are one of the first CBD brands to grow, process, and bottle their products entirely in New York State.
Passionate about organic agriculture, Gandelman’s goal is to support the health and livelihoods of the people in his community. As Founder and President of the New York State Growers and Processors Association, he has been leading the way on hemp legislation in New York since day one and has long been a champion of small businesses and growers.

After graduating from Cornell University, Miller-Hornick began her entrepreneurial career as the Business Manager at Farmigo, where she partnered with 400+ farms nationwide to help them streamline and manage their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) experience. From there, she’s worked in Marketing and Operations at Healthy Food for All, Farmer to Farmer Podcast, and Main Street Farms.
A local food advocate, Miller-Hornick is dedicated to helping small farms become sustainable businesses. She sees local agriculture as a tool for building stronger communities, and the emerging hemp industry as an opportunity to decommodify the undervalued work of the growers who sustain us. New York Hemp Oil has grown exponentially in its two years of operations, and harvested 40 acres of hemp in 2019. Through Head + Heal, they are one of the first CBD brands to grow, process, and bottle their products entirely in New York State.
New York Hemp Oil (NYHO) is a NYS licensed hemp processor focusing on Certified Organic full spectrum CBD production. New York Hemp Oil will begin toll-processing hemp for farms throughout New York State in 2019. Their full spectrum CBD oil is currently sold in bulk, through private-labeling, and via their in house brand, Head & Heal. Head & Heal is sold in over 250 stores in the Northeast, including Wegmans, where they are the top selling tincture brand in the CBD category. A completely vertically integrated company, NYHO can dry, process, and bottle hemp for farms throughout New York. They hope to be a cornerstone for the New York Hemp Industry, providing high quality processing services for NY hemp growers.
Kaelan is the founder of Sovereign Vines, America’s Only Hemp Infused Wine, securing approval and bringing to market the first state approved hemp infused alcohol product. Now, as the Chief Executive Officer of CSG Kaelan specializes in regulatory analysis, compliance, brand development, and has a talent for bringing together the right people to navigate the complexities of the emerging N.Y. hemp industry. He has become a trusted source of insight from regulators, lawmakers, and industry leaders across New York. As a co-founder of the New York Cannabis Growers & Processors Association Kaelan helped lead the charge in this last legislative session for comprehensive hemp regulations.
Castetter Sustainability Group is a leader in creating a robust, sustainable, and diverse New York cannabis industry. We service growers, manufacturers, and retailers; in compliance, regulatory analysis, branding, along with facility design and management. CSG is also actively participating in the research and development of genetics and best growing practices for cannabis production in New York.

Stephen Halton has an extensive background with hemp and has been doing research for over a decade. In 2012 he started an agricultural business, which is a small-scale farm operation that grows, harvests and markets agricultural products. This farm business led him to founding CNY Hemp Processing Inc in 2017. It was Important to help create a market for hemp in New York State as well as build the infrastructure connecting farmers to processors. Currently Mr. Halton continues to do research with all cultivars of hemp including grain, fiber and CBD.
CNY Hemp Processing Inc. was founded in 2017 with the goal to focus on grain & fiber cultivars while building infrastructure for the hemp industry across New York State. Working closely with farmers has been the goal since the beginning, while educating the public about the benefits of hemp while showing the sustainability of cultivars grown for grain and fiber. CNY Hemp Processing also recently received a $55,000 grant from New York Empire State Development for future expansions and development in the 2018 REDC announcement The ribbon was cut January 11th 2019 and opened the doors to start processing
Dan Horowitz is the Sales Manager for Schutte’s KannaMill brand. He oversees Sales and Account Development related to the Cannabis and Hemp Industry. Dan is an instrumental part of helping the KannaMill brand grow not only within Schutte, but also the Industry. He is an advocate for both our equipment as well as the applications it can be used for. Dan is active in several organizations within this space and speaks at events to help educate farmers, extractors, and enthusiasts nationwide.
